  • The call consists of six (6) parcels on the central and eastern Scotian shelf in water depths less than 200 m.
    • Parcel 1 straddles the Sable and Abenaki Subbasins and includes the Penobscot oil discovery which contains 65 MMBbls (mean) of oil in place. There are also two undrilled structures directly adjacent to the Penobscot discovery with additional oil potential of 82 MMBbls (mean). In addition, Parcel 1 is near to both the Sable Offshore Energy Project and Deep Panuke natural gas pipelines.
    • Parcels 2, 3 and 4 are all within the Abenaki Subbasin and the Erie Graben Complex where oil pay has been encountered in four wells.
    • Parcels 5 and 6 are within the Huron Subbasin where a number of wells have encountered considerable net gas pay.

Written Comments

The public is invited to submit written comments to the Board on the lands included in the Call for Bids. Such submissions will be considered by the Board before the issuance of Exploration Licences.
